Who is DRTuned Racing?
Hi, my name’s Daniel, and I run everything you see here at DRTuned Racing!
What surprises a lot of people, is to learn that DRTuned Racing isn’t a “team” or a corporate group of people. It’s just me, I do it all. The tuning, emails, marketing, web design, and all the ongoing development.
I’ve been tuning Mazda’s, and exclusively MZR and Skyactiv engines, for the last 10 years now. This brand, and the Mazda community, is far more than just a fun side hobby for me; this is my livelihood, and has been for the last several years.
I hope that you’ll allow me to join you on this journey with your Mazda, and add your story to the hundreds of other incredible Mazda owners I’ve worked with over the last 10 years.
So what’s my story?
I’m an enthusiast at heart, just like yourself. I got started with RallyX racing when I was just 17, inspired by Ken Block’s Gymkhana 2, years prior. Working with a group of fantastic sponsors, I continued in rally for a few years before transitioning into Time Attack, where most of our sponsors stayed on, and several more joined, in order to create a truly unique build with a Saab 9-5.
It was during this same time while in university I became interested in tuning with my 2008 Mazda 3. I was fortunate to be surrounded by an awesome group of like-minded Mazda owners who supported my journey to learn how to tune, and allowed me to develop my skills on their own Mazda’s.
And just like that first group of friends, I’m still really not alone today, I’m supported by hundreds of customers, friends, and family in our constant journey to develop and maintain the enthusiast spirit in the Mazda community.
Their effort is shown in this brand just as much as my own.
For the continued support, encouragement, and input, I will always be grateful.

So how does it work?
Typically, tuning would be completed in one long in-person session. But with remote tuning, we stretch that process out to several shorter 20-30 minute sessions.
Because the files are being emailed, you can complete your tuning/data logging sessions at any time that is most convenient for you.

You’ll receive a link to login to the Customer Dashboard here on the website.
The Registration Instructions will walk you through every step to install the software, link your tuning cable, and submit you factory calibration!

Once we have your OEM factory file, we’ll be able to build your very first tuning file, the Basemap.
Each Basemap is custom made for your specific engine, modifications & upgrades, and your desired fuel octane.

With the tune finally flash, you’ll be able to drive around to record a datalog.
We use the datalogs to verify everything is running safely and smoothly.
AND if you opted to purchase a tuning kit with revisions, you’ll receive up to 6 FREE revisions to fully optimize the initial basemap to MAXIMIZE the performance of your Mazda.

Once we’ve reviewed your datalogs, and any revisions that are included with your tune, we’ll sign off on your tune and let you know that it’s complete!
Everything we do is based on REAL WORLD data from YOUR engine. That ensures the tune is complete when the data says it’s complete.
It also means once your tuning is finished, you’re all set and don’t have to worry about submitting more datalogs or constantly receiving new files and never receiving a “finished” tune like with some other tuners.
