Should I Buy R-Compound Race Tires? /Wheels & Tires

WIDE 200TW tires are the way to go until you have significant experience under your belt and are aiming for podium worthy lap times. Until then, 'cheater' tires will simply slow you down in the long run by reinforcing improper lines and bad driving habits. “Street” tires will provide audible feedback when they start to reach the limit, being wide they can handle the higher loading produced by aero and allow them to handle the heat produced in long track sessions provided you aren’t over-driving. 200TW will also last significantly longer than race compound tires, and therefore be a far better investment.
